Campaign naming conventions

The standard naming pattern that makes filtering, reporting, and automation possible across your entire ad account.

A consistent naming convention is not cosmetic — it is operational infrastructure. When every campaign name encodes its ad type, targeting purpose, and product, you can filter the entire account in the bulk editor in seconds, aggregate performance by ad type in reports, and let automation tools like RankASIN generate campaign names directly from your seller account configuration without manual input.

The naming pattern

All campaign names follow this structure:

{CompanyInitials} | {ProductName} | {ParentASIN} | {Marketplace} | {AdTypeCode} | {TargetingDetails}

A real example:

KN | Product Name | B0XXXXXXXX | US | SPM | "Root 1" KWs | Exact

Each segment is separated by | (space-pipe-space). This makes the separator visually distinct and parseable if you process campaign names programmatically.

Portfolio naming

Portfolios group campaigns by product. The naming pattern:

{CompanyInitials} - {ParentASIN} - {ProductNickname}

SDV campaigns follow the same pattern as SDI with the SDV prefix in place of SDI. All targeting types, optimization goals, and remarketing scope options from the SDI section apply equally to SDV.
